Thịt bò thái miếng mỏng và dài. Ớt chuông, thái dạng que dày khoảng 0,5 cm. Rau húng nhặt sạch lấy lá. Hành tím, tỏi bóc vỏ rửa sạch rồi đập dập. Ớt rửa sạch xắt nhỏ.
Để có được nước sốt, hòa tan đường nâu, bột năng vào nước tương đậu nành trong một bát nước nhỏ.
Đặt chảo lên bếp với chút dầu ăn, cho thịt bò vào xào khoảng 3 phút rồi thêm tỏi, hành tím, ớt vào đảo tiếp khoảng 1 - 2 phút cho thơm. Thêm ớt chuông, đảo đều khoảng 2 - 3 phút.
Đổ nước sốt từ từ vào chảo, vặn lửa to hết cỡ và đảo nhanh tay, nước sốt sẽ nhanh chóng đặc lại và thấm đều vào thịt bò trong chảo.
Đảo đều tay cho đên khi thịt đã săn lại, thêm ít lá húng quế vào đảo trong vòng 1 phút thì tắt bếp. Nếu không ăn được cay, bạn có thể bớt lượng ớt đi. Món bò xào này ăn cùng cơm nóng là hợp nhất.
